Dragon Fruit aka Pitaya are pretty, little fruits that pack a big (nutrient) punch! They almost look like a flame to me in their natural state. They can have either white or (neon) pink insides – The pink, obviously being the more fun choice to eat! 😉 The outer skin is cactus like, but the the inside is tender and delicious!
Need more reasons to seek out and try this fruit? Here you go:

5 Reasons Dragon Fruit is FIRE!!!

1. It’s Loaded with Vitamins & Minerals

Dragon Fruit is rich in vitamins C, B1, B2 and B3. It’s also a great source of minerals including iron, calcium, and phosphorus. It’s definitely one of the best “super fruits/foods”!

2. It Blends Beautifully

Whether you throw it in a smoothie or a sorbet, it blends really nicely into a smooth and creamy texture similar to acai. I personally haven’t had experience blending the white version of the fruit, but my experience working at Raw Juce AND just as a #fitfoodie connoisseur that’s tried multiple versions of dragon bowls (like the one below), it’s a great addition to any chilled treat. Plus, that leads me to point #3…

3. It’s Fun to Eat

Who doesn’t get excited looking at neon pink food?! It’s such a unique and fun color that it’s almost trippy to eat! I expected it to be super sweet like candy, but it’s just the right level of sweet. I personally enjoy it’s sweetness and flavor more than the typical acai bowl, but that’s just me.

4. It Keeps Things Moving

Literally…it’s a great source of fiber, so, you know… It’s got about 7g of fiber in a single cup serving. – That’s good news for your digestive health!

5. Reduces In[FLAME]ation

See what I did there 😉 Inflammation = InFLAMEation (when we’re talking DRAGON Fruit – HA!) No really…Dragon fruit is rich in flavonoids, one of the many types of antioxidants that can help repair cell damage caused by oxidative stress and reduce inflammation. In turn, this can help the body ward off some chronic diseases and every day implications of too much in[FLAME]ation. [1]

There you have it – some of my favorite reasons to eat dragon fruit! Now, if you need suggestions on where to find this magical fruit in a fun form like the bowl above, here are my top places (in no particular order) around West Palm Beach, FL .
